About Evan Michael Green

Evan Michael Green, also known as EMG, is an independent recording artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. EMG is best known for his 2017 release, “Nice Voice” and his 2018 release, “ New Identity”. Both hits greatly accounting for his 5 million total streams and 7 million total YouTube views to date. Green is the Founder and CEO of his own independently operated Record Label and Production Company, Ten Sixty Seven.

Evan Michael Green was born on September 30, 1992, in Falls Church, Virginia and was raised in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. With his mother a published author, father a graphic illustrator, and brother a filmmaker, Evan grew up in a very creative household. Composing music by the age of 5, it was determined that Evan had a rare gift known as “relative pitch”, the ability to identify or re-create a given musical note by comparing it to what he was hearing. Some of his early influences included Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Outkast. From there, EMG began learning music on a host of instruments from the piano to the guitar to the saxophone as he mastered the ability to use his musical gifts.

During his teenage years, Evan played in various bands both in and out of school. He participated in the marching band and jazz band while attending Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School from 2006 – 2010 winning various awards for his performances. He also became immersed in the local gogo music scene during this time with a group of other teenagers he met through school. In 2009, EMG auditioned and was accepted into the DC Youth Orchestra. After high school, Evan went on to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he played the saxophone. During his time at Berklee, he worked in the college’s mailroom. In 2014, he graduated with a degree in Music Business and Marketing.

Evan continued living in Boston after graduation. His first job out of college was a door to door salesman. He credits this job as providing the hands on experience that he needed at customer service and public speaking.

In Summer of 2015, EMG starting working at Bank of America as a greeter. It didn’t take him very long to realize that the corporate life wasn’t for him. While working at the bank, Evan taught himself how to sing. After his shifts, he would return home to record hundreds of vocal takes each night to perfect his voice. In late 2015, he dropped his first covers of Usher’s “You Remind Me” and Bruno Mar’s “Talking To the Moon” on Facebook which gained enough attention for him to consider quitting his job. He grew unhappy very quickly at the bank and quit only 3 months after working there. He deeply felt that music was his calling.

In August of 2016, EMG made his musical debut with “Wake Up Mary, Please” which received noteable attention through Facebook and YouTube.

After quitting his bank job, Evan made a very jarring decision to live in his car for six months while driving Uber for 10 hours a day in order to save up enough money to move to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. During his nomadic time, his creative drive pushed him to a tireless work ethic; new music poured out of him in the studio. At this time he also founded and launched his label and production company, Ten Sixty Seven. Green felt launching his own label was a natural step to take that would allow him the freedom to be self-sufficient and in creative control of all aspects of his music.

EMG successfully relocated to Los Angeles, CA March 2017.

The label officially released Green’s highly anticipated EP, “All the Things that I Am” on July 17, 2017. Featuring a striking combination of playful melodies, ironic word play and powerful underlying themes. This creative project was inspired by his own romantic struggles and relentless motivation for success. The acoustic ballad, “Nice Voice” showcases his command of melody while offering a harsh yet honest perspective on modern relationships. Booming, bass-heavy tracks “Suspect” and “The Right Thing” prove the artist’s fearless ability to unleash complex emotions through well-crafted, intricately produced songs. He elevates his dynamic sound and expands his versatility with sensual rhythms, deeply personal lyrics, and his unparalleled falsetto.

In October 2017, EMG was featured on the HBCU Regional College Tour 2017 where he opened for 2 Chainz, 21 Savage and Young Thug, among other influential artists.

After a small hiatus, Green returned to the music scene with the release of his single “New Identity” on August 17, 2018. The single gained national attention as it was featured on radio stations, MTV and Ebro in the Morning.
